There really is no place like London – a thriving metropolis of history, design, performance and finance. It is also a hugely popular business location with some of the largest and most charismatic hotels in the country.

The map doesn’t just provide the opening to Eastenders. It goes back, and we mean way back, to Roman foundations, when it was known as Londinium. The history of merry London is as rich, brilliant and bloody as it gets. The Victorian Industrial zeal saw many of the city’s landmarks constructed, including the railways, Nelson’s Column and Tower Bridge. Buildings have a traditional feel and maintain a bright, British vibe. Tourists from all over the world come to marvel at London’s treasures – where else would you find an original Da Vinci sketch or a champagne bar overlooking a palace? If you want to get involved and see London first hand for your event, why not engage us in our FREE venue finding service?

If you wish to explore London for business, pleasure or both, Clever Destinations will be more than happy to provide you with a free venue proposal. We’ll also recommend the easiest travel routes for you, although London transport couldn’t be more efficient. Below the city is the London Underground, taking you from A to B in no time (did you know we run a London Underground treasure hunt?!). But if you prefer to stay above ground and take a detour through London, we can arrange group transport in coaches, or boats along the river. On a larger scale, Gatwick and Heathrow airports provide easy access for overseas clients and are only a short journey to the city centre.

Most London hotels offer stunning views and in-house conference facilities. There’s a range of dining options to choose from, too. Tantalise your taste buds in a trendy Gordon Ramsay restaurant or enjoy cream and scones in a dainty British tea-house. Socialize with the guys or share a secret with the girls in sophisticated uptown bars. Drinks packages can be included with gala dinners and themed nights. And why not treat the office to one of our exciting team building exercises or a cocktail reception on the London Eye – the perfect way to tour the city without doing your feet in? In London, there is too much to see and do. You’ll be spoilt for choice!

We were thrilled to be the London DMC of choice for this event, held yesterday at the Roundhouse in north London, working with event giant Uniplan Hong Kong and the western European Huawei teams to help deliver this extraordinary event.

Press and industry heavyweights piled in to the venue, transformed by the genius of the Uniplan production crew, to hear speeches from Huawei Consumer Business CEO Richard Yu, Lead Designer Nick Woodley and others, including Sir Charles Dunstone, Chairman of Carphone Warehouse. All hosted by beautiful Irish presenter Zoe Salmon. Our hostesses were in evidence throughout the day, ensuring excited journalists and consumers alike were able to experience the phone and understand its capabilities, and the cocktails and canapés flowed!

Later on, the Huawei teams from France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands and Belgium who had jetted in for the launch, as well as Hong Kong HQ, launched themselves into London for dinners in restaurants around the city. Home today for most of them – and we’re glad the weather has been warm and sunny in London – we don’t want everyone to think it always rains here…

For more pictures of the event, please check out our facebook album HERE, and if you’d like to see some footage from the event and hear more about the phone, please click HERE

We’ve booked a group of pharmaceutical industry managers coming to London and they’ve chosen a short activities program with us. We met with the event planners at the end of last week over lunch and finalised the details.

The group will be arriving in our luxury coach to their venue, which is a fantastic converted bank, for drinks and canapes in a real bank vault before enjoying a drumming workshop followed by a very traditional bespoke British themed buffet. We’ve got tiny fish and chips and miniature roast beef – it’s a real taste of the UK but in a very contemporary style!

This enquiry came to us a very short time ago but we were able to manage a short lead time. In our industry we are used to handling things that need doing ASAP! It’s always ASAP! Very pleased that we were able to identify the right solutions for this group and present them quickly. Looking forward to seeing them again in London in a couple of weeks for their event

And this year the dear old London Underground is 150 years old.

This historic network was launched in the Victorian era – hard to imagine what it must have been like. Today it offers some 270 stations and has something like 400km of track. It’s the single biggest factor for keeping London moving

Prince Charles and Camilla took a celebratory ride on the trains just yesterday to mark this landmark occasion, travelling between Farringdon and Kings Cross. We bet their carriages were smarter than the ones we travel on most days!

But to celebrate the Tube here at DMC London we have created our very own London-based team building option which is a treasure hunt around the network.

Armed with a trusty Oyster travel card, teams launch into the train network to battle it out in Underground-based challenges. There are quiz questions to answer and historical facts to uncover. Gain extra points with the photo challenges at stations, crack the trivia questions and ride the trains to unusual locations. Get to know London and have great fun with this slightly mad team building activity

If you would like more information about the Tube Challenge or any of our team building options then get in touch
